About This Site

This network status page was developed to provide a service status overview for customers of Simply Hosting & Servers (a trading name of PoundHost Internet Ltd). The server is hosted in the USA so it is geographically separate from our UK data centres and network infrastructure.

There is an XML feed listing the current (5 minute) service checks. We also offer an RSS feed of our service announcements, both of which are freely available to customers and anyone else who find them useful.

Scheduled Maintenance

Network maintenance Dec 9, 2025 23:30 - Dec 10, 2025 03:00 GMT

During this network maintenance we will be reconfiguring a number of router interfaces in Dublin and London in order to support future services. Individual router links will be taken out of service, reconfigured and brought back into service. During this time traffic to some external Internet sites, and between internal hosts in Dublin and UK sites, will go via different paths where we have ample spare capacity. No customer impact is expected, but due to the nature of the work we are announcing this as an at risk period for the network.

Dec 7, 08:00 GMT
Scheduled - One of our circuit suppliers providing connectivity between our Reading and London data centres is conducting maintenance to their service.

As we have diverse circuits between these locations we do not expect any disruption and traffic will fail over to other routes, but those routes will be at-risk during the maintenance window.

During the update, VMs will be put in a save state, so they will be unreachable for a few minutes. If for any reason this isn't possible and the automated script fails, they will be forcibly shut down.

Completed - This maintenance is still ongoing and updates will be provided under a new ID
Nov 25, 12:00 GMT
Update - Service repair by the supplier affected by overrunning maintenance from London to Dublin is still ongoing, as the fault is complex to repair. They continue to work on this today. To fix this they have authorised their partner to conduct resplicing activity which will result in an outage to repair and could cause circuit flaps or downtime to this specific circuit when this occurs.

Our fully diverse path between London and Dublin is operating normally and will take over all traffic automatically if the above circuit goes down for repair or flaps. This switchover is transparent to customer hosting. It would however be in an at-risk position for the moments that the supplier with overrunning maintenance is conducting repairs to their circuit.

Update - Service from the supplier affected by overrunning maintenance from Friday night recovered on Saturday however that supplier is still conducting repairs to observed degradation in the signal along the path from London to Dublin throughout Sunday 23/11. To fix this they have authorised their partner to conduct resplicing activity which will result in an outage to repair it and this work is still ongoing on Sunday evening with some circuit flaps observed.

To fix this they have authorised their partner to conduct resplicing activity which will result in an outage to repair it.

We have not observed any issue to the circuit since 20:00 on Saturday despite the above communication from them and it is currently operating normally, however we must still consider the circuit and therefore our Network at-risk until they notify completion of works - however we also have a fully diverse path between London and Dublin operating normally today.

Our diverse supplier completed their planned maintenance overnight in a short window in close communication with us and there was no clash of events or impact to our Network.

Update - Service from the supplier affected by overrunning maintenance last night recovered this afternoon however that supplier has observed degradation in the signal along the path from London to Dublin. To fix this they have authorised their partner to conduct resplicing activity which will result in an outage to repair it.

Unfortunately our diverse supplier also have a window of planned maintenance works overnight from 23:00 to 05:00 GMT.

We are still hopeful that these works do not clash and are pushing for the repair as an absolute priority before 23:00. If there is a clash there could be reachability issues only between services hosted in our UK and IE datacentres from each other - because we have multiple independent internet transit connections in both locations services will remain online as normal for customer hosting to the internet.

Nov 22, 21:35 GMT
Update - Our supplier continue to resplice the fiber for circuit restoration, due to the number of patches they are prioritising this work. We have requested restoration at the highest priority and are closely following progress.

Scheduled - One of our circuit suppliers providing connectivity between our London and Dublin data centres is conducting maintenance to their service.

As we have diverse circuits between these locations we do not expect any disruption and traffic will fail over to other routes, but those routes will be at-risk during the maintenance window.

Update: The suppliers maintenance is currently overrunning beyond their announced maintenance window and our Network is at-risk. We have raised this with them at the highest priority. We do not have an anticipated eta from them at this time and are following their updates closely.

Nov 22, 13:22 GMT
Resolved - Our supplier resolved the issue with the circuit from London to Dublin on Monday evening and our network is operating normally with full diversity. This maintenance can now be closed.
